This Howard Park’s top of the tree Cabernet. It’s from largely Mount Barker fruit with a small amount of Margaret River providing mid palate grunt. A stylish and thoroughly seamless fine of poise and presence. Seamless smooth palate with fine silky tannins, fine-grained oak and deep concentrated fruit intensity. Outstanding wine of great promise.

Plenty of sweet ripe fruit in here. A solid Coonawarra Cabernet brimming with lively black currant and minty vanillin characters. There is liberal spiciness with deeper tones of mulberry and chocolate. Lovely firm palate that will allow some medium term cellaring.

There’s a remarkable purity about this wine from the first sniff through to the last hint of the finish. Its pure Cabernet essence integrated with a delightful cedary oak. Balanced and poised and displaying class and sophistication. Love the perfumed notes on the nose while the palate delivers with effortless ease to a long finish.

A blend of Frankland Cabernet and Pemberton Merlot. Oodles of black currant with spicy fruit cakey overtones. There is some nice meaty game character in there with some silky tannins and fine grained oak providing ample support. Has the structure and poise to support some longer term cellaring.

Cerca Pemberton Frankland River Sauvignon Blanc
A cracking good wine from this new producer. It's made up of Pemberton Savvy and Frankland River Semillon. It's a light bodied wine but one with heaps of powerful lingering intensity on the palate. A little bit of wild yeast ferment in French puncheons adds complexity while it retains its zingy mouth feel.

Slightly tighter and more rustic wine than the Cab Merlot from this year. Has a spicy savoury lift with solid fruit supported with firmish tannins and some grainy oak. Subtle leafy overtones with deeper dark chocolate characters.

This Riesling has consistently been one of the finest released in WA. It comes from a special bit of the Frankland River vineyard and produces wine of extraordinary finesse and delicacy but at the same time intensity and powerful palate length. This is a beauty.

Diamond Chardonnay 2008 ($25)
Probably the most sophisticated Chardonnay yet from Ferngrove. Complex slightly toasty aromas of cashew and citrus with some spicy oak influence. The creamy palate is tight and controlled with a crisp fine acid. Oak has been expertly woven into the very textural palate. Excellent wine.

Typically Barossa in style and presentation. This is an opulent Shiraz with the usual blueberry and dark plum richness on the palate and nose. The oak is seamlessly integrated and more in the medium to full bodied style. Classy wine for some medium term cellaring.

A wonderfully soft and supple Shiraz that just oozes drink me. It's all style and elegance with sift supple and ripe tannins, a silky smooth palate and beautifully weight fine-grained oak. Medium bodied with a nice spicy lift.

A most sophisticated Chardonnay that is the flagship white from Vasse Felix. There is enormous concentration of complex flavours of meal, grapefruit, brioche and roasted cashew all controlled with a fine persistent acid. It's still tight yet balanced and will deliver supremely in a few more years.

A classy expression of Great Southern Pinot Noir. Has a mix of sweet raspberry and sour cherry with some nice vanillin and cedary oak nuances. The palate has a silky smooth feel with fine tannins and subtle oak. Good firm thread of structure to support.

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2009 ($25)
This is the first release from former Cloudy Bay winemaker Kevin Judd from his new label. This is a NZ Sav Blanc that is more than acid and water, it has some palate weight and texture together with a lifted fresh lingering finish. Precise crunchy gooseberry and fresh nettle. It's an appealing wine.

Thoroughly gorgeous little Merlot. It's soft and supple with generous fruit flavour displaying cherry and light fruity cake characters spiced with a light touch of oak. Sweet fruit on the finish balanced with a fine astringency.

Has a distinct lemon blossom and zest aroma floating across this thoroughly engaging example of riesling. Fine palate with quite low alcohol has such gorgeous mouth feel. It's a beauty for now or in the cellar.
