If there are more committed and passionate individuals in the wine industry than Darren Haunold, then I have yet to make their acquaintance.
Haunold chose this site based on the maritime influence of the nearby Indian Ocean and Geographe Bay, aiming for wines with elegance and finesse, while maintaining strong varietal definition.
Excellent range of wines and a great restaurant.

Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2007 ($18)

This is a really intense and powerful expression of this classic blend. Stacks of tropical richness with some grassy touches. The beautiful mix of melon and subtle stone fruit delivers abundant sustained flavours. Beautiful mouth feel and texture.

Score:92/100

Semillon 2004 ($21)

I liked the previous vintage but this one is right up there as well. Lovely smells of citrus, fresh cut grass and a little honey makes for an enticing opening. Palate has great texture with the fine delicate acid sustaining a long finish.

Score:93/100

Shiraz 2005 ($23)

Just love the earthy savoury aromas with the spicy dark plum and clove and nutmeg characters. Gorgeously soft and supple palate with substantial mid-palate weight and concentration. Rich and plump. Excellent stuff.

Score:91/100

Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 ($28)

Another excellent Cabernet from Wills Domain showing perhaps a touch more mid palate plumpness and generosity, which I like. Vibrant black currant and black olive aromas carry through to the palate with a subtle hint of Cabernet leafiness. Excellent balance and structure. Classy wine.
