Saracen Estates is located on Caves Road and with involvement of the Duckstein Brewery it offers fine wine and premium quality craft beer together with excellent food.
The striking buildings are constructed from local timber and stone and contain a state-of-the-art craft brewery, cellar sales area, restaurant, beer garden and children's playground.
The aim is to produce high quality top end wines and with the guidance of Bob Cartwright they are well on the way.

Chardonnay 2007

From the first sniff you get the impression of a classy wine of some sophistication. Mealy cashew and gentle lurking grapefruit reveal themselves in a subtle opening. The rich and texturally pleasing plate offers layers of complexity. Rich and creamy with some restraint on the finish.

Bright crimson red colour. The aroma is spicy with a little sour cherry and red currant nuance. The palate is tight and restrained with a slightly angular mouth feel.

Crunchy lively Sav Blanc showing all the fresh youthfulness and appealing tropical melon fruits you expect. Some tighter gooseberry and citrus characters add to an appealing refined palate.

Chardonnay 2006 ($30)

A wine that shows the ongoing maturity and development of this vineyard. This is a very smart Chardonnay displaying complexity and interest on the palate after a beautiful opening on the nose. Grapefruit and citrus aromas with a little mealy edge. Flavours are beautifully presented on a tight crisp and long palate. Excellent wine.

Medium weight Shiraz with a blend of savoury slightly spicy ripe plum flavours merged neatly with lightly weighted oak. Fine tannins and a seamless controlled palate.
