This new producer on Caves Road has made quite a statement since arriving on the scene a few years ago, from the outset choosing to do things differently — from wine styles to packaging to the label names. Since its opening in September 2006 Laurance Cellar has become one of the region’s most popular with spectacular rose garden and Australian sculptures. Voted one of Australia’s best 10 cellar doors. Gold medal at Decanter awards of '07 Cabernet points to a strong future.
Continues this eminently drinkable Rose style. Lots of perfumed cherry and light strawberry aromas. The palate is seductive, light-bodied and flavoursome with an appealing cherry and red berry flavour. Slightly more rounded and fruity than previous vintages.
Score:87/100
About the most complete red wine yet from Laurance. Ripe, savoury blackcurrant and dark chocolate plum flavours, with a rich powerfully structured palate carrying to a long finish. It's slightly chunky and firm but will develop nicely over the next few years.
Score:85/100
A very nice blend of Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Has lifted herbaceous gooseberry aromas with some creamy overtones. The palate packs plenty into it but there is a fine delicacy. Nicely sustained.
Score:86/100
No question in my mind this is the best release yet from Laurance Wines. This is a classy Chardie showing intense powerful fruit nicely weighted with toasty oak and sustained with a lingering acid. Very encouraging.
