Since its inception in 1974, Leeuwin Estate’s mission has been to produce wines that rank with the best in the world through the pursuit of excellence. Today Leeuwin has been recognised through the receipt of numerous awards for its wines, restaurant, architecture, environment, arts endeavours, and as a leader in wine tourism.
On three occasions Leeuwin has been included in the prestigious category of "International Winery of the Year" by US "Wine & Spirits" magazine and included in the prestigious French publication, "100 Vins De Legende", as one of the world's great wine legends. Australia’s largest wine auction house, Langtons, includes Leeuwin’s Chardonnay in the top ‘exceptional’ category, whilst Leeuwin has been included in Wine Spectator’s category of Classic wines of the World.

Prelude Vineyards Chardonnay 2006 ($34)

Pretty damned good second label for Chardonnay. It's has a typical vintage delicacy from the very cool 2006, and yet the intensity, persistence and length are of the highest order. Beautifully crisp and precise with a creamy texture of citrus and subtle white peach, plus understated oak.

Art Series Chardonnay 2005 ($92)

Year in and year out this ranks among the finest wines released in any one year in Australia. This is stunning, combining a delicacy and elegancy with underlying power and persistence. Distinctive grapefruit, cereal and lightly roasted cashew swirl into a palate of great complexity. Palate has a fine delicate purity with impeccable control and focus. This is the wine that defines Australian Chardonnay.

Siblings Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2006 ($24)

Beautifully precise and piercing blend that has certainly benefited from the extra 12 months in bottle at the time of tasting. Has a crunchy mineral texture with a penetrating lingering acidity. Superb.

Art Series Shiraz 2005 ($35)

Since Leeuwin started to rediscover Shiraz a few years ago, this wine is clearly the best. Savour spicy aromas with sprinklings of coffee and mocha. Its' seductive and captivating. Palate is warm and deep with lovely savoury fruit flavours integrated oak and excellent length.
